In 2012 the Dunstan celebrates the 150th anniversary (it's actually the sesqui-centennial) of the Gold Rush which lead to the initial development of our area. We have lots of events planned to occur throughout the year. At this stage our planning is evolving very well and January is already under way. Please feel free to contact us if you require further information or would like to become involved.

Below is the planned calendar of events. It is still possible that further events might be added to the calendar. This will be delivered throughout the region in mid-January.

2013 - Special 4WD Event

Subject to various approvals, 4WD enthusiasts linked to St Bathans, Central Otago, will conduct a 2 day programme celebrating the history of area miners.  On Saturday 9 March, a 4WD tour “in the steps of the miners” will offer narrated visits to goldfields and the great works of water races.  Assembly at the Vulcan Hotel 10 am.  On Sunday 10 March, there will be a 4WD “Gold race along the miner’s trails” with a worthy gold bullion prize to the winner. Mark this in your diary – such opportunities are rare. Entry forms will be made available in due course.
